Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn has been an American actress for film, TV and on stage since the latter part of 1970. A gifted thespian she has been performing professionally for her early teens for the past 27 years. In 1990, she performed her debut on stage in an Off Broadway production in The Big Funk written by John Patrick Shanley. In the following year she was cast in her first TV role in The Perfect Tribute. In 1992, she received her big break by being a part of Basic Instinct as a minor character. In the film The Firm however that she was cast as the female lead for the very first time, and this was also against famous actors such as Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. Most recently, she played her character of Alex Blake, Dr. Alex Blake in Criminal Minds.
